"Nobody Gives a Sh*t"

Age: 14
Time of year: early winter
Day: weekday, early afternoon, 3 or 4 pm
Mood: relaxed, irritated, frustrated, rejected

After a school excursion to the city we were aloud to make our own way home, which naturally included a look through the main shops, and the boredom that comes with that for me and my friend. To make up for this my friend started shouting "Help, Rape" and such, which got very annoying after a while. I told her to stop it and that it was real obvious nothing was happening so it wasn't like people were going to help her or anything. But she kept at it.
After a while and several warnings from me I got really annoyed and shoved her into a wall (in the one of the main shopping strips) I smiled at her to keep screaming for help, kind of like a 'play along' so she did. I did my best to look like I was attacking or molesting her without actually doing anything and she yelled for help, I pushed her into the wall a little firmer to get her attention and looked her in the eyes and said "Nobody Gives A Sh*t". I saw her eyes follow each of the people behind me, (walking faster than normal, avoiding us) actually looking for help for once.
I would have actually been happy to have been bashed at that moment, because it would have proved me wrong, but I had known I wouldn’t be.

Help Them

Age: 17
Time of year: late summer
Day: satrday
Mood: relaxed, comfortable, then tence, uneasy, guilty

I was sitting on my car in the sun, basking and relaxing when I heard a kid scream in pain. I had heard that before in my neighbourhood and been unable to tell where it had come from, but this time I knew.
I sat stiff wondering what to do. I knew the parent of this kid (I could hear them screaming) and normally thought they were kind. I hoped it was a one off, I left them alone, disappointed and angry with myself and every other person who left this child to suffer rather than get involved.
